Best. TV Show. Ever.
Friday, June 26, 2009 at 8:38AM I took this picture of my TV's onscreen channel guide the other night as I was channel-surfing. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
First of all, all of the listings together form a carnival of failure. Second, Sandwiches That You Will Like? That is either the best or the worst show of all time. Imagine the pitch session...
Bob: Max, I've got a show for you.
Max: Tell me about it, Bob.
Bob: It's about sandwiches.
Max: I don't know--
Bob: Wait! It's not what you think. It's sandwiches...that you will like.
Max: Oh! I didn't realize! That changes everything! Can you guarantee that I'll like them?
Bob: I'm willing to say that I can guarantee that you will like them.
Max: Excellent. I like it when programming assures me that I will enjoy it even before I watch.
Bob: Who doesn't?! Plus, it's sandwiches.
Max: And I'm going to like them!
Bob: You will!
Max: I need you to start shooting this thing yesterday!
And thus a television legend was born. It gets better. This was on PBS, it was shot in 2002, and it has been airing for the last seven years. Those must be some damn fine sandwiches.
