A Smattering of Haiku
Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:19PM It has been awhile since I have posted any haiku--and by awhile, I mean never. To borrow from and bastardize Madeleine L'Engle, the haiku is interesting from the standpoint that it is a rigid structure that still presents infinite possibilities, not unlike the versatile Little Giant Ladder. Also, it is short. It is the poetry for the MTV generation. Also, it is the poetry for old Japanese people. Also, it doesn't rhyme.
Here are some of those things I was just talking about.
Reflections on Kurt Russell's Head
Disturbingly large
Balanced precariously
That poor, abused neck
Ballad of the Angry Birthday Party Clown
So many children
The dumpster will hold them all
No one needs to know
Upon Lying to My Hot New Girlfriend
"Yes, this chicken rocks!"
Stomach...stabbing...from...inside
Must...remain...conscious
Play It Cool
"Everything's fine!
Goodbye now!" Hang up the phone
Must find the baby
To The Writing Staff of Heroes
You say you'll answer
All of our questions this week
Dirty, dirty lies
Bad Policeman
Let me say again
I did not at any time
Think it was loaded
The Man Who Didn't See the Oncoming Train
Would you look at me!
Balancing so easily
On the rail BLAM AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Ode To Courtney Love
A pile of leather?
My mistake! It's failure in
Folds of slackened skin
Good night.
